In Dependence on God, Not Independence

One Nation Under God, Who is Love!

Freedom is Not Lawlessness, True Freedom is Maturity

Somewhere along the way, we forgot the main thing: God. When our forefathers declared independence, they were not declaring independence from every form of government. They were not calling for anarchy, lawlessness, or rebellion against all authority. They were declaring independence from man’s control while recognizing their dependence on God’s government. They understood something we desperately need to remember today: people were never designed to govern themselves apart from the wisdom, protection, correction, and guidance of Almighty God.

We like to say we are “one nation under God,” but the question is: are we truly under His authority? To be under God means we submit to His leadership. It means He is not an emergency contact we call only when life falls apart. He is our Father and King, our Shepherd and Guide. We answer to Him. We reverence Him. We seek His wisdom. We respect His correction. We desire His presence. Like children who love a good father, we want to spend time with Him, learn from Him, and grow to be more like Him

Freedom was never meant to mean lawlessness. True freedom is maturity. It is the ability to live responsibly, make wise choices, and walk in the right direction without needing constant supervision. But maturity does not mean independence from God. It means dependence on God’s Spirit as our guide. Like our inner navigation system, it means learning to listen when He prompts us, obey when He corrects us, and trust Him when He redirects us.

Who Is Your God, Who Do You Follow?

Who sits on the throne of your heart as God? In our generation, we have often mistaken self-rule for freedom. Like Lucifer, we are tempted to exalt ourselves as god and say, “I answer to no one. I am my own authority. I will do what I want, when I want, how I want.” But that kind of independence is not freedom; it is deception. When we reject God’s loving authority, we do not become free. We place ourselves under another kind of rule: pride, confusion, isolation, selfishness, and destruction.

The prodigal son learned this lesson the hard way. He wanted his inheritance without relationship. He wanted the blessing without the Father. For a while, he had money, friends, and the appearance of freedom. But when everything ran out, he found himself empty, alone, and broken. Then he came to his senses. He remembered his father. He turned around and went home.

That is where many people, families, churches, and even nations find themselves today. We have wandered away from the Father’s house. We have sown our wild oats. We have tried to build life on our own terms. We have called it progress, independence, and personal freedom, but much of it has produced confusion, division, fear, and spiritual emptiness. We do not need more pride and ego. We need more humility and repentance. We need to come back to the middle of the road… so we can get to our desired destination and not get lost or break down.

Follow Your Inner Guidance System (IGS)

Coming back to God is not weakness. It is wisdom. It is changing drivers. It is admitting, “I cannot do this by myself. I need God’s help. I need divine guidance.” We do not need artificial intelligence to replace spiritual intelligence. We need Real Intelligence: the wisdom of God, the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and the mind of Christ leading us into truth.

There is a difference between being wild and being mature. A rebellious teenager may leave home and think, “Now I am free.” But if that freedom is used to destroy relationships, waste resources, ignore wisdom, and reject correction, it becomes bondage. Eventually, the wise person comes to their senses and returns to what is safe, sound, and true.

God does not call us to childish dependence where we never grow up. He calls us to mature sonship and daughterhood. He wants children He can trust—people who know His voice, value His wisdom, and carry out the family business of establishing His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. That means overcoming evil with good. It means displaying the character of Christ and fruit of the Spirit. It means helping others find peace and hope. It means speaking life instead of death, blessing instead of cursing, faith instead of fear.

Make a U-Turn

So the question remains: if you are not under God, who are you under? If God is only someone you call when you need something, then He is not truly being honored as Father. A father deserves love, respect, relationship, and obedience. God came first. We came second. He is older, wiser, stronger, and better than we are. His authority is not meant to crush us; it is meant to cover us and protect us.

It is time to return. It is time to repent, make a “you-turn,” and change direction. You need to change directions in order to change your life and destination. It is time for families, communities, and this nation to fall on our knees again and ask for forgiveness, wisdom, and guidance. We cannot save ourselves. We cannot govern ourselves rightly without God. We cannot build heaven on earth while rejecting the King of heaven.

One Nation Under Love!

One nation under God must become more than a phrase. One nation under Love’s leadership and umbrella, because God is Love. It must become a posture of the heart. Under His guidance. Under His authority. Under His tender love and care. Dependent on His wisdom. Dependent on His Spirit. Dependent on His government in our lives.

We have tried life in our own strength long enough. Now it is time to change drivers. Upgrade to a Sprit-Driven Life!

2-by-2 in ’22

Sending Them Out Two-by-Two

I heard the Spirit say, “2-by-2 in ’22.” I was reminded when Jesus sent His disciples out two-by-two, the twelve disciples in Matthew 10 and the seventy in Luke 10.

Luke 10  1After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two-and-two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest. (KJV)

Ecclesiastes 4 12And though one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. (AMP)

Self-Government is the Answer

Self-Government not More Government

Democracy as defined by Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United States of America, is government of the people, for the people, and by the people.

I was reminded of a letter the Holy Spirit gave me to write to President Trump before he became President about Self-Government. It is relevant today, now more than ever. (See attached below.) Especially with the division over our presidential elections and the country being divided on how the government should be run, the message of this letter rings so true.

We don’t need MORE Government… we need SELF Government! (continued on page 2)

Recognize a Spirit of Division

With so much tension in the world these days, it’s easy to forget who our real enemy is. Remember that Satan is the one who comes to steal our joy and peace, kill our hopes and dreams, and destroy our health, families and future; but Jesus came to give us life to the full, until it overflows (John 10:10). Recognize who subtracts and divides, and who adds and multiplies.

  • – The Devil is (d)evil. He always takes something away from us.

+ God is Go(o)d. He always adds something to our lives.

“Be alert and vigilant, because the devil is your adversary and roams around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour” (I Peter 5:8).

Who’s Talking Now?

God created man after His own image (Genesis 1:26-28). God is 3-in-1 (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit) and He created man 3-in-1 (Spirit, Soul, Body).

Our Soul consists of our Mind, Will, and Emotions, in other words our Thoughts, Desires, and Feelings. We need to be able to sort and differentiate “who’s talking” so we know how to respond appropriately. Continue reading “Who’s Talking Now?”

Rewrite Your Life

This morning when I woke up the Spirit said, You can either have:

  • Self-Defeating Thoughts – or – Award-Winning Thoughts
  • Limiting Beliefs – or – Liberating Beliefs
  • Confining Actions – or – Propelling Actions

It’s Your Choice! What YOU believe rules you or dominates you. It has a domino effect…

Self-defeating thoughts turn into…

Limiting beliefs which turn into…

Confining actions or behavior

Keeping you stuck in the mud, spinning your wheels but going nowhere

Going Through…

When, Not If…

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame consume you.”  (Isaiah 43:2)
.
I had a dream last night about going through the fire. This verse in Isaiah was going through my spirit, but the part that struck me was “When” you walk through the fire or pass through the floods… not “If.” Sometimes we find ourselves in dire circumstances and it is not our choice; we did nothing to get there…like Joseph, like Daniel, or like the 3 Hebrew Children in the fiery furnace. We wish we could get out of it, but there is nothing we can do about it. We just have to keep moving forward and trusting God for the outcome. It’s all or nothing, do or die.

Tests Are Opportunities For Promotion

Those of us who have been raised in church, when we think of “tests, trials, and tribulation” that means “you’ve been going through it, that the devil has been beating you up.” At least that’s how we used to refer to it in our “testimony service.” Those of you who have been around a long time will understand what I’m saying. It really was a time of “doom, despair and agony on me; I’m hurting and barely making it by; please keep me in your prayers.” Instead of glorifying God, the devil got all the glory for whipping up on them!  Thankfully, we’ve moved passed that kind of “testimony!”
